PHEROMONES
NINAMOUNAH AW18
FILM
Created for Nina Mounah’s Autumn/Winter 2018 collection, Phéromone follows a sophisticated couple driven by an increasingly primitive relationship to the world around them.
Dressed in elegant tailoring, latex hoods and fetish-inspired accessories, the characters move through an art gallery, a party and their private apartment. But rather than simply looking, they smell everything they encounter.
A work of art. A dancing body. The inside of a high heel. Skin, clothes and objects become sources of attraction, information and desire.
Through this obsessive use of scent and breath, Phéromone imagines a world where social codes slowly collapse and instinct takes over. Beneath the elegance of the characters lies something more animal, erotic and unsettling — a relationship governed by attraction, domination and chemical desire.
PROCESS
the film co-created with Victor Carril, was conceived around the physical act of breathing as its central visual and performative motif.
Shot across Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, a party and a private apartment, the film follows the characters through the course of an apparently sophisticated day while gradually introducing increasingly instinctive and fetishistic behaviour.
