A recognized filmmaker and multimedia artist, Alexandre Carril has developed a multifaceted body of work distinguished by a profound mastery of visual and narrative languages.
His cinema, influenced by his architectural background, is a fusion of technical precision and artistic exploration. Dedicated to creating immersive worlds, Alexandre works with meticulous attention to detail: atmospheric sound compositions, sensory storytelling, fluid editing, and rigorous framing. His films challenge cinematic conventions, offering a visual celebration where controlled aesthetics, choreographed movement, and the hybridization of mediums generate stunning, timeless images imbued with humor, surrealism, and spontaneity.
Today, Alexandre stands out as a creator whose holistic approach redefines the boundaries between cinema, fashion, and contemporary art while maintaining a deeply human and poetic vision.
As a director, he has made a name for himself in fashion cinema and music videos.
In 2019, he joined the fashion house Maitrepierre as the Creative Director for Fashion Campaigns. He co-supervises all Maitrepierre campaigns as well as the artistic direction of runway shows and directs all the brand's video campaigns. His noteworthy works include Maitrepierre Mimesis, Les Bourgeoises bourgeonnent, and Amour Amour, in collaboration with Studio L'Étiquette.
For most campaigns, Alexandre co-directs the photography and framing of the advertising films.
Prior to 2019, he directed campaigns for designers such as Ninamounah, Ferrari Concept, Studio Oath, and Isnotdead. In the musical domain, he has directed videos for David Shaw and The Beat (Please Please Please) and the hip-hop group Hopestacle (XIIIe Nuit), blending cinematic aesthetics with rhythmic storytelling.
Alexandre is a self-taught filmmaker who initially trained on set as an actor. He began his career with Les Fautes d’orthographe by Jean-Jacques Zilbermann and went on to play notable roles in films such as Bébé requin and Donne-moi la main by Pascal-Alex Vincent, as well as Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows by Guy Ritchie. These experiences alongside renowned directors became, for him, a true school of cinema, where he observed and absorbed the intricacies of screenwriting, artistic direction, and mise-en-scène.
Drawing on this empirical training, Alexandre developed his own cinematic vision. He is involved in every stage of his projects, from scriptwriting to directing, including cinematography, editing, and sound design. His approach is both technical and meticulous, particularly in his work with light, framing, and sound textures, which play a fundamental role in the narrative immersion of his films.
Initially trained as an architect, Alexandre founded Studio INCAA in 2015, specializing in the design and construction of numerous multiplex cinemas. This experience provided him with a unique expertise in acoustics and cutting-edge projection technologies, which would later influence his meticulous approach to filmmaking.
On the artistic front, Alexandre co-founded the De Anima collective, a transdisciplinary platform combining performance, film, and installation, always connected to the living world. His hybrid works, exhibited in institutions such as Hangar in Brussels, Unseen Art Fair, and Ada Ventura Gallery, explore themes of transformation and identity, as well as vegetal and animal intelligence, through a post-realist and queer aesthetic.
