Created for Maitrepierre’s fifth anniversary and Let’s Play SS25 runway show, this multiscreen video installation unfolded across the scenography of the show, surrounding the catwalk with a continuous stream of mutating images.

Bodies, dolls, sweets, cakes, shoes and industrial manufacturing processes collide, melt and contaminate one another. Familiar objects lose their function and become unstable, organic forms — somewhere between production line, consumption and hallucination.

Displayed simultaneously across multiple screens throughout the runway show, the film creates a fragmented and obsessive visual environment: a poetic and satirical reflection on the frenzy of making, producing and endlessly generating new objects, bodies and images.

PROCESS

The installation marks the beginning of Alexandre Carril’s Inconscience Collective research and his exploration of artificial intelligence as a new form of algorithmic material.

Working from archival footage of radically different manufacturing processes, Carril first created surreal associations through editing, allowing the production of sweets, dolls, shoes and synthetic objects to contaminate one another. These visual sequences were then processed through early generative AI systems, deliberately searching for their errors, glitches and misinterpretations rather than trying to correct them.

Faces appeared inside objects. Materials merged. Bodies dissolved into machines and plastic forms. The instability of these early algorithms became a creative language in itself, amplified through montage and distributed across the different screens of the installation.

By amplifying these algorithmic accidents, Carril developed a visual process between montage, collage and machine hallucination — searching for a new surrealism born from the encounter between human imagination and the collective visual memory absorbed by algorithms.
