FLASH SORROW

MAITREPIERRE SS25

FILM

A model stands alone beneath the collective gaze of cameras, phones and flashes.

As the shooting intensifies, her image escapes her body. Her face expands, fragments and multiplies across the surrounding screens, until the woman and her representation seem to exist in two different spaces.

Flash Sorrow is a short, hypnotic study of exposure — the strange violence of being endlessly watched, captured and transformed into images.

PROCESS

Created for Maitrepierre’s Let’s Play SS25 collection, the sequence was built around a live image-feedback system inside an immersive LED volume. Multiple cameras captured the performer simultaneously, while extreme close-ups of her face and body were retransmitted and recomposed in real time across the surrounding screens.

The set becomes both studio and image machine. Cameras, operators and filming devices are deliberately visible, creating a mise en abyme in which the making of the fashion image becomes the film itself.
